JUAN GRADUATES...

Juan Bovell, a former Barbados Junior National Volleyball player, has recently graduated from the University of Montevallo, Alabama. Bovell, a former student of Queen’s College Secondary, left in 2000 on a volleyball scholarship. While at the University of Montevallo, she excelled not only in the classroom , but in her sport of volleyball as well, receiving awards such as Gulf South Conference Honor Roll, Most Improved, and Academic Excellence. As a chair-person for the student athletes of all 18 schools in her athletic conference, through the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), Bovell also got the chance to be one of just 26 student athletes to be representatives on the NCAA Division 2 National SAAC.

Juan is a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc., and she graduated on May 8th with a B.S. in Biology and a minor in Kinesiology. She will be moving on to New York Institute of Technology’s Doctorate of Physical Therapy program (DPT) this summer, where she will also be a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer.

CHAMPION

Progressive's setter Laurie Beckles and his Japanese Akita, Lance proved to be champions in the Barbados Dog Show held on Sunday, March 20, 2005, at Waterford, St. Michael.

Lance won the top prize in the Individual Akita competition as well as he captured the title of Champion Dog in the Working Dog Group.
