Griffith was part of the inception of competitive volleyball in the island in 1976 and after a brief stint as a player he assisted the Association firstly as an Auditor before assuming the position of Treasurer from 1998.
The last decade has been an outstanding one for Barbados' Volleyball and the financial and organisational skills of the President and his Executive have been the platform on which this success has been built. On assuming the presidency in 1996, Griffith embarked on a programme of making the national teams a competitive presence in NORCECA which has reaped some measure of success to date. At the same time, through the collaboration with a number of corporate sponsors Griffith has developed and promoted the Youth and Junior programme at the national and regional level.
Griffith has been Treasurer of NORCECA since 2000 and he is currently Vice President – Finance for CAZOVA, a position he has held for over 12 years. Griffith is also the Internal Auditor of the FIVB and in 2008 he embarked on his second term as Treasurer of the Barbados Olympic Association.
Griffith's vision of Volleyball for Barbados focuses on the development of our players professionally at our Regional Development Centre as well as the positive involvement of all of our officials and administrators which would provide the impetus for Barbados to rightfully claim a spot at a World Cup while breaking into NORCECA’s top four.
Griffith has been able to use that formula for Barbados to establish volleyball dominance at the English-speaking Caribbean region for over 15 years. With the persistent efforts and zeal of his administration and the potential of the island's players, Griffith stands ready to lead Barbados’ volleyball onto planes of greater achievements and national glory.
